Editorial

The purpose of this blog is to explore and share the wonders of great music with young parents, to help them find a way in for themselves, their pets and even their children. And, of course, How to Enjoy Classical Music With Your Dog is not just for young parents, but for everyone who would like to make some discoveries, think about how music works, and find corners they might have missed.

And if you’re an editor or publisher, yes, this is intended to be a book one of these days.

Stories

We’re interested in hearing from parents of all kinds of pets and children about your experiences in exploring music with your charges. And we’d love to know your success stories — was there a moment or a piece of music that connected so strongly that the door was finally opened?

About

I love music and have been in involved in all kinds since I was a little kid. Wanted to play pipe organ so I took 5 years of piano first. Went to Interlochen Center for the Arts for 4 summers and was able to play under Freddy Fennell. Played piano, vibes, flute in a band throughout high school, working every weekend. Accepted to Harvard as a composition major. (Never attended) Put the Cleveland Orchestra in my first movie, Double-Stop, and ended up at the Cannes Film Festival at 23. Have a gold record as an audio engineer. Am writing these pieces at the request of several of my 4 sons — and for their dogs, cats and children and hopefully, you.
